The Mayor of Exmouth, Cllr Brian Cole, joined Chris Fayers, Director of Exeter-based Eagle One Homes to unveil the historic dock foundation stone, from the original 1886 offices, now embedded in The Point at Exmouth Quay.
The completion of The Point brings the quay full circle and marks the 20-year transformation from run-down, derelict dock area to vibrant waterside community.
The Point apartment complex has fourteen waterside apartments with a mix of two and three bedroom homes arranged over four storeys. The building has two stunning penthouses with expansive glass walls on the top floor and the ground floor features three retail units. The retail units have all been sold to local businesses with River Exe Café and Stuart Line Cruises moving in shortly and AB solutions later in the year.
The two-bedroom, first floor apartment, which is the show home, features large windows facing the sea and river which capture the setting sun. It is designed with a modern finish to complement rather than compete with the views. The apartment uses jades, blues and tonal purples with hints of metallic silver in the walls and furnishings to echo the changing colours of the sea and the sparkle on the water. The Point show home will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 10-4pm.
Eagle One Homes built their first homes at Schooner Court in 1997 followed by the first apartments at Ropewalk House in 1999. Now 265 properties later they have delivered 257 homes, 8 commercial units, a marina, a £10M sea wall, improved public spaces and created a vibrant waterside community of over 600 people.
Chris Fayers, Director of Eagle One Homes said: “I’ve worked on this project from the outset. I can recall visiting the site in its early days when there wasn’t much to see apart from sand, concrete, steel and a few remaining chalets. The location is second to none and inspired by the potential of the site we set about the transformation. As child I had spent holidays in the chalets and on the estuary so had known its former glory in the late 60s and 70s. I hope we have respected and recreated the atmosphere that existed in this tucked away part of the town.
Over 65 people visited The Point show apartment on its opening day marking the high demand for the property. One penthouse has already been sold and a further three apartments are under offer.

A trio of Westcountry firms have been appointed to help fit out waterside apartments at The Point, Exmouth.
A hallmark of all the apartments developed by Eagle One Residential at Exmouth Quay has been the commitment to high quality finishes and contemporary design.

Design for the showhome will be provided by Parkfield Interiors of Torquay. Maria Smythe, Parkfield’s Director said: “The two bedroom first floor apartment which overlooks the beach is an amazing space to design. Intoto Kitchens of Exeter have won the contract to provide the stylish kitchens for the fourteen apartments. Lee Brimecombe, Director of Intoto said: “Kitchens are now an integral part of modern living with hosts wanting to talk with their guests and family when preparing meals. Therefore quality of design combined with durability is really important. Our kitchens deliver that with quartz worktops, Neff cookers and Blanco sink and taps.”
“We’ve provided 20 bathrooms for The Point furnished from the Villeroy & Boch Avento range,” said Nathan Legg, Director of Mayflower Bathrooms, Wellington. “We chose this stunning modernist range in white gloss with chrome fixtures to enhance the contemporary feel of the apartments. This is the first time we’ve used this recently released range in the South West. All the apartments have showers over baths with some also featuring en-suite rain showers.”

The finishing touches have been made to the the roof at The Point just 10 weeks from the start of construction.
The Point apartments stand slightly apart from the rest of the development at Exmouth Quay and has a unique modernist design developed by GJR architects.

Alan Ringe from GJR says: “We wanted to exploit the perfect position of The Point to the full. The developers have also invested more than £1million in the new sea wall and the new car park will be completed for spring 2017.

Work has started on The Point, Exmouth with completion of the 14 waterside apartments scheduled for the end of the year.
Developers Eagle One Homes have appointed Midas Construction, part of the Midas Group, as the contractors for the build.
Fourteen high quality, architect designed apartments will be built in a sweeping curve with panoramic views over the sea, River Exe estuary and Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve.

The building will have two stunning penthouses with expansive glass walls on the top floor whilst the ground floor will feature three retail units The building phase will be completed by Christmas 2016. There will be the opportunity for those making purchases off plan to customise their homes. This will include being able to choose the colour scheme, tiles, kitchen and bathroom fittings.
